The student will develop basic caregiving skills and knowledge to perform safely and effectively as a caregiver in the assisted living or home setting. In addition to the classroom educational setting the student will complete lab hours and pass a final exam. The student will be expected to:
a. Identify the levels of care within as assisted living facility and care necessary for each level.
b. Identify the legal and ethical issues, residents’ rights, mental health and social service needs.
c. Demonstrate basic care giving skills, basic restorative services, medication management and care of the cognitively impaired resident.
d. Demonstrate maintenance of home environment and job management skills.
e. Demonstrate effective communication, ethical and legal behaviors, good grooming, and dependability.
Lecture is from 9-11:59 and lab is from 1-4pm
