Metalsmithing 102 is designed for students who have completed Metalsmithing 101 or who have prior experience working with basic metalsmithing tools and techniques. In this four-week course, students will build on foundational skills while transitioning from base metals to working with silver materials.
Throughout the class, students will learn essential techniques for handling and shaping silver, including sawing, soldering, forming, filing, texturing, and professional finishing methods. Each technique is introduced step by step, with demonstrations and guided practice to ensure accuracy, safety, and confidence at the bench. Emphasis is placed on developing precision, craftsmanship, and comfort working with more advanced materials.
By the end of the four weeks, each student will design and create a finished silver pendant, applying the techniques learned in class from initial concept through final polish. This course provides a supportive environment for refining skills, exploring creative design, and gaining hands-on experience working with silver.
